People of all ages and medical histories should consider themselves potential donors. The medical condition of the donor at the time of death will determine what organs and tissue can be donated.

ABOUT US

The New York Alliance for Donation is a non-profit organization comprised of organ, eye and tissue recovery organizations throughout New York State.

Health professionals, allied groups and individuals whose lives have been affected by donation also participate in supporting our primary goal of increasing organ, eye and tissue donation throught the state.

In September 2011, the Alliance was awarded a two-year HRSA funded grant to work in DMV offices educating customers and Motor Vehicles Representatives (MVRs) about organ, eye and tissue donation. In terms of outreach, the project aims to educate MVRs in 25 of the 40 counties that permit POD materials in their DMV branches. The goal of the project is to increase organ, eye and tissue donation in New York State by increasing the number and proportion of individuals who enroll in the Statewide Registry
